But now I have invitations.
Invitations, by nature of putting the date and time of the wedding in permanent print, make the whole thing seem a lot more real. If this wasn't already exciting enough, try adding to it the fact that the invitations are a graphic and textile clue to how the whole wedding will look and feel. Needless to say, I am pretty excited to have them. And I am even more excited that they...are...AWESOME!

I ordered the envelopes from PaperSource and sent them to be printed, mostly because I didn't like the envelope choices at Oblation. But it ended up working out perfectly. I also ordered the templates and the paper for the envelope liners, which I will be doing myself.

I worked with Dana Cochran at A Fine Line in Asheville, NC to coordinate the whole thing. I did a bad Photoshop drawing of what I wanted and she sent it to Oblation Papers, who managed to make my idea look a million times better. Oblation also did the letterpress printing of the invites, response cards and envelopes. Let me just say, their handmade paper should be edible because it is so yummy that I just want to eat it up!

Absolutely gorgeous! I can totally relate to what you mean by the wedding still seeming like a bit of a distant dream, even though it's really going to happen. I got engaged at Christmas and am getting married August 2008, so it still seems so far off. I wanted to get married this summer, but all the good venues were already booked so next summer it is! Maybe when I print save-the-dates it will seem real, but we have to book a venue first!
Thanks for my first official comment, Laura! :)
Congrats on your engagement, and don't worry, the time will fly by! STDs will make it seem a *little* real, at least they did for me, but the invites were the clincher.
